Twenty years ago, Philadelphia's textile industry was all but dead, and so was the Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science. The small school in the city's East Falls section had a dangerously depleted bank account. Its course offerings - heavy on fabrics and manufacturing - were obsolete. Enrollment was shrinking fast.
